Access Road and Re-cycling Area

The access road to the village hall from the main road is in poor condition. Running repairs are being made but it needs leveling and surfacing with the provision of proper drainage. A footpath is also required for pedestrian safety and disabled access.

The photo below top left is an extremely rare specimen showing John Mallen on the wrong end of a shovel. Well done John!!!

The condition of the road causes significant difficulty in keeping the hall floor clean, especially in wet weather. The car parking area (photo top right) is also in poor condition and tends to puddle in wet weather. As there is no lobby area in the hall mud tends to get walked in to the main floor area.

The recycling area was redesigned in 2005 and a hardcore & gravel access was constructed. The bottom left photo shows the old layout and the right hand photo the revised layout with access. More gravel was used to fill holes in the road but this needs to be done regularly.

More Work on the Road 4 March 2006

Volunteers spreading the best part of 10 tons of stone on the road. Larger holes were first filled with rubble and compacted with a “Wacker Plate”. The winter had taken its toll and more holes appeared.
