Facilities

Condition

Build 1995. Main Hall used every day by fee paying organisations. Entrance hall looking tired and messy.  Dark corridors but good access to all the rooms without having to go through the main rooms. Internal and external access to chaining rooms and toilets, showers.  Still working on in the chainging rooms.  Club and bar with external access onto 'patio area'. Bar again looking a little tired but a good sized room and nice small bar. Not part of the Village Hall due to Halls charity status and needs to be dealt with totally separtary. Bar opened up onto Main hall. Office was a very useful space but cramped, used by Parish Clerk.  Main Hall desinged for Badminigton court, poor accustics and feature window.  Very light due to Ceiling windows. Storage in difficult areas due to octigan shape of hall. Balconary area not used but for storage. Access direct from Small hall to Main hall. Kitchen well equiped but unfriendly, poor layout, cramped, external door, no window. Access from passage ways and into bar/club area.

Development and Funding

Raised over 5 years - £100,000 , Sports and Art Foundation - £10,000, Total in Grants £100,000 - £50K from Sports and Art council, £25K from Sports council(?). Building cost (1995) £150,000. £100,000 to fit out. Borrowed £50,000 from Breckland Council (ACRE) local members tied into the loan just finishing paying it back 12 years. Main source of funding - fireworks, Quiz nights, Duck race, Fun Days, Weekly Bingo.  Social Club Events (bar funds). Trying to increase more events especially weddings, currently charge £200 (have 6 per year) (Hunters Hall can charge £5,000 per wedding). Want to build a stage. Gross £100,000 per year. Need £100,000 for further development in the next few years.

Suggestions

Need a well connected, dedicated committee.  Problem with funds being raised and building costs quickly increased afterwards. Would do very many things different if started again. Happy to advise our development.
