Progress on Actions from Village Appraisal

 

The following is copied from the last page of the Appraisal Report and Village Plan

showing progress against each item:

 

What Can We Do Now

ü Install the Dog Bins – some installed, more on annual basis

ü Install bench in children’s playground - installed

ü Install the replacement swings - installed

O Improve access to Village Hall – some work done but only temporary - Project Bawdeswell

ü Parish Councillors to attend meeting arranged with Chief Planning Officer - done/ongoing consultation

ü Planning Applications to be available for consultation at the beginning of every PC meeting - done

ü PC to ask Robin Taylor if he would kindly publicise public transport times in the Reeve’s Tale - done

ü PC to continue to investigate the possibility of flashing signs, traffic calming and speed limits – ongoing (PC pursuing issue with Breckland Council).

What Can We Do Next

ü A Bawdeswell Heritage Group (BHG) to be formed to promote and encourage appreciation of our environment - done

ü BHG will look into the possibility of creating walking maps and information points – maps produced

ü Clear signing of public footpaths by the County Council - done

ü PC to investigate expansion of recycling for garden waste and textiles – Breckland provide garden waste collection for recycling

ü PC to investigate possibility of extending Dereham/Swanton Morley bus service to Bawdeswell - ongoing

O Volunteers to be contacted with a view to establishing new clubs and recreational activities - Project Bawdeswell

ü Youth Agencies to be contacted by the PC to seek help in developing activities for young people - Rock solid and Young Farmers

O PC to investigate the funding of new playground equipment – Project Bawdeswell

ü PC to conduct a full debate about the need for street lighting in the village – done (lighting not wanted)

What Can We Do Long Term

ü BHG to plan the creation of shelter belts and tree planting – ongoing

ü BHG to investigate and promote funding for improving the local environment - ongoing

O PC to look at ways of improving the village hall facilities for the community – Project Bawdeswell

ü BHG and PC to promote walking, nature study and similar activities in the area  - village and walking maps now available – ongoing

ü PC to work towards improving police presence in the village – ongoing (Chief Superintendent has attended Parish Council meetings in 2004  and 2005 and will be invited annually to report on progress and answer villagers questions)
