Why Another Survey - Village Appraisal Follow-up Survey
Why another survey?
– the appraisal was 3 years ago and most of the
items from the action plan have been successfully achieved.
Four
significant issues are outstanding – most involve the inadequacy of
community facilities.
To deal with
these items will be expensive – hundreds of thousands of pounds. The
road to the village hall alone will cost up to £50,000 or more to
upgrade with a proper footpath and drainage.
We need
external funding – the village couldn’t afford this on its own without a
very large increase in Council Tax. (£150 per household just for the
road to the village hall).
The funding
rules have changed – we now need to present a ‘Business Plan’ with
‘evidence’ to show what the social return of any investment would be.
The results
of this survey will form a significant part of the evidence for the
village business plan.
Some
evidence is there from the village appraisal but needs clarifying and
reinforcing.
The
appraisal was about households and less than 50% of the questionnaires
were returned.
This
follow-up survey concentrates on a few specific issues and targets every
individual in the village.
Separate
questionnaires have been provided for age groups five to ten years, and
eleven to seventeen years.
It is essential
that as many residents as possible complete the survey to show support
for the Project.
